News Alfre Woodard Will Star Opposite Katherine Heigl in NBC Drama Pilot "State Of Affairs" Stage and screen actress Alfre Woodard, who was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in "Cross Creek," will star opposite Katherine Heigl in NBC's drama pilot "State Of Affairs," according to Deadline.com.

Directed by Joe Carnahan and produced by Universal TV, "State Of Affairs" will star Heigl ("Grey's Anatomy") as a CIA attaché who counsels the president (Woodard) on high-stakes incidents around the world.

Director Carnahan also pens the script alongside Alex Hawley. Heigl, Carnahan, Hawley, Bob Simonds, Henry Crumpton and Julia Franz are executive producers.

Woodard, who received an Emmy nomination for her performance in Lifetime's "Steel Magnolias," has been seen on Broadway in Me and Bessie and Drowning Crow.
