News Ally McBeal" Star Jane Krakowski Does Fuddy Meers at Edinburgh

Jane Krakowski, who played Elaine Vassal on television's "Ally McBeal," will make her British stage debut in the European premiere of the award-winning absurd comedy Fuddy Meers at this year's Edinburgh Festival.

As the final episodes of Ally McBeal are broadcast in the UK, Krakowski will star as an amnesiac who, attempting to regain her memory, embarks on a crazy, roller-coaster journey of self-discovery.

The bizarre characters she encounters will be played by a cast of award-winning performers, including comedian Scott Capurro (Perrier Award), Paola Dionisotti (Evening Standard Best Actress 2000 for Further Than the Furthest Thing at the Royal National Theatre and The Stage Award for Best Actress for the Traverse, Edinburgh) and Chris Pickles (The Stage Award for Best Actor for Love! Valour! Compassion!, Edinburgh Festival 1998) and Kate Capstick.

Fuddy Meers, by David Lindsay-Abaire, will be brought to the stage by director Stephen Henry, whose production of Corpus Christi was the sell-out sensation of the 1999 Edinburgh Fringe, and was subsequently performed at the Pleasance Theatre, London.

In a highly distinguished career, Jane Krakowski has appeared on Broadway in the casts of Once Upon a Mattress, Starlight Express and Grand Hotel, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award. Other theatre work includesTartuffe, Company and Henceforward, for which she received the L.A. Drama Critic Award for Best Actress and a Dramalogue award.
