Ken Davenport and Robyn Goodman announced tickets are now on sale online and by phone from TeleCharge.com. They also confirmed that Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham — four of the boy-group singers that won acclaim during the recent New York Musical Theatre Festival gig — will reunite for the Off-Broadway premiere. First preview at Dodger Stages is Feb. 15, 2005, leading to a March 1 opening.

However, "the nationwide search continues for a new lead singer." The tongue-in-cheek announcement explains, "As keen-eyed observers of Christian music and those that troll boy-band websites know, Cheyenne Jackson, who created the role of Matthew this summer, has forsaken God and country for Broadway!"

Jackson is the new lead in Broadway's All Shook Up and wasn't able to repeat his work at Matthew. All Shook Up is currently in tryout previews in Chicago.

Ryan Duncan (Man of La Mancha, Fiddler on the Roof ) will be again be Juan; David Josefsberg (The Joys of Sex ) returns to his role as Abraham; Andy Karl (Saturday Night, Saturday Night Fever, On the Record ) takes on Luke once more, and Tyler Maynard (Mamma Mia!, On the Record ) continues as Mark, the youngest of the Altar Boyz.

Altar Boyz is the new musical comedy about a struggling Christian boy-band "riding the wave of America's latest fascination with religion." "Armed with catchy melodies, divine moves and product in their hair, the self-anointed apostles of pop" (Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and the Jewish Abraham) "bring their soul-saving tour to New York City…"

Seen in a developmental run as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) Sept. 16-25, 2004, Altar Boyz has a score by Gary Adler (musical director of Avenue Q ) and Michael Patrick Walker, book by Kevin Del Aguila, and is based on a concept by Marc Kessler (The Manhattan Rhythm Kings) and Ken Davenport (Awesome 80s Prom ).

Stafford Arima (a 2005 Olivier nominee for London's Ragtime ) directs. Christopher Gattelli choreographs.

Design is Anna Louizos (set), Gail Brassard (costume), Natasha Katz (lighting). Lynne Shankel (The Thing About Men, Summer of '42 ) will serve as music director and co-orchestrator with Doug Katsaros.

Performances are at Dodger Stages, Stage 4 (340 West 50th Street, just west of Eighth Avenue). Tickets may be ordered online at www.telecharge.com or by phone at (212) 239-6200.

Performances will be Tuesday through Friday evenings at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 PM and 8 PM, and Sundays at 3 PM and 7 PM.
