Mitchell, whose West End production of Legally Blonde was co-produced by ATG and is now in its third year at ATG's Savoy Theatre in the West End as well as on a separate national tour, will also take on a creative producer role, as well as being a director/choreographer on selected productions. According to press materials, the new company will focus on a wide range of projects from new commissions to fresh, innovative versions of classic pieces.

In a press statement, Mitchell commented, "This is a great vehicle as a director to be able to develop new work, but I'm also extremely excited to have the chance to bring in fellow artists, whom I love and admire, to develop their own work under this new creative umbrella."

Mitchell received a Tony Award for choreographing the 2004 revival of La Cage aux Folles; he has also been Tony-nominated for his choreography on Legally Blonde, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Never Gonna Dance, Hairspray and The Full Monty. Most recently on Broadway, he choreographed Catch Me If You Can and most recently in the West End choreographed the original production of Love Never Dies. He also directed, choreographed and co-produced Peepshow, a Las Vegas extravaganza production show, and served as production supervisor for the Toronto and Broadway productions of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Currently, he is supervising the writing of Broadway musicals based on the films "Kinky Boots" and "Mad Hot Ballroom" and the iconic television series "The Honeymooners," all of which he will direct and choreograph for Broadway.

Howard Panter, joint chief executive of Ambassador Theatre Group, which he co-founded with Rosemary Squire, commented, "Jerry Mitchell Productions represents a unique, transcontinental approach to creating new theatrical productions, and we feel fortunate to have access to both Jerrys immense talents as well as his extensive relationships in the creative community. We've had a great experience working with Jerry, and look forward to exciting collaborations with him through this new partnership."
