Up until only five finalists remain, the judges – if they unanimously agree – had the option to save from elimination the finalist receiving the lowest number of votes. However, they may only do so once during the season. Next week, the two finalists receiving the lowest number of votes will be eliminated.
Ryan Seacrest made a special announcement at the end of the program, saying all 11 finalists will tour this summer — rather than the usual ten — because of the use of the Judges' Save at this particular point in the competition.
On March 30 at 8 PM ET on Fox, the Top 11 finalists – Casey Abrams, Naima Adedapo, Lauren Alaina, James Durbin, Stefano Langone, Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald, Thia Megia, Haley Reinhart and Pia Toscano – will sing hits from the 1980s.
During the live results show on March 31 (8 PM-9 PM ET), Season Three winner Fantasia will perform her latest hit, “Collard Greens & Cornbread,” and will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas and Academy Award and Grammy winner Jamie Foxx will perform their first-ever musical collaboration. The duo will sing “Hot Wings (I Wanna Party),” an original song written for the upcoming animated feature film “Rio.”
