News Amish Project to Play Cherry Lane Theatre in January The Amish Project, written and performed by Jessica Dickey, will be presented as a work-in-progress at the Cherry Lane Theatre in January 2009.

Directed by Sarah Cameron Sunde, the one-person drama, which was inspired by the 2006 tragedy at the Nickel Mines Amish Settlement, will play the Off-Broadway venue Jan. 10-31. "Imbued with poetry and humor," press notes state, The Amish Project "explores a community grappling with loss and faith."

The limited run will feature scenic and costume design by Lauren Helpern, lighting design by Nicole Pearce and sound design by Jill DuBoff.

The Amish Project debuted to much acclaim at the 2008 New York International Fringe Festival. Cherry Lane plans to produce the world premiere in April.
