PlayBlog An In-Depth Look at ART's Broadway-Bound Porgy and Bess (Video) The Broadway-bound American Repertory Theater production of Porgy and Bess, starring four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald and Norm Lewis, has been transformed from an opera to a musical, under the direction of Diane Paulus, and continues through Oct. 2 in Cambridge, MA, before making the transfer to New York City.

Since the show has been revised, critics and theatre enthusiasts, including Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim, have commented on the change.
Here, "Greater Boston" takes an in-depth look at the production and talks to the cast and creative team of Porgy and Bess to find out their opinions on the changes made to the piece. The special feature also captures a glimpse into the production that currently plays at the Loeb Drama Center and offers a series of extended interviews with McDonald, Lewis and director Paulus.

Lewis and McDonald, who play Porgy and Bess, respectively, are confirmed to repeat their performances in the musical when the production arrives at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre Dec. 17, prior to an official opening Jan. 12, 2012.
