The play for children is suitable for those in kindergarten through Grade 6.
Adapted by Tony Phelan and Kira Snyder from a West African folktale, Anansi, according to press notes, "features the funny and clever spider Anansi, who risks her life to acquire the Tooth of a Leopard, the Stinger of a Hornet, and the Wings of a Fairy in order to get back all of the world’s stories, which have been stolen by the Sky God."
The cast features graduates of the Circle in the Square Theatre School. Following each performance will be a Q&A with the cast.
Anansi The Spider is the third and final production in this year's "Three Plays for Grades K-6" series, the program that began in 1994. The series is dedicated to the memory of Theodore Mann (1924-2012), co-founder of Circle in the Square Theatre. Mann was artistic director of both Circle in the Square Theatre and Circle in the Square Theatre School.
