Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has agreed to appear in person Saturday, Sept. 28 to receive the CLO Golden Anniversary Richard Rodgers Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre from the Civic Light Opera of Pittsburgh at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

Davis Gaines, star of Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera and the forthcoming Whistle Down the Wind; Stacy Keach, Michael Damian and others will perform in a salute to Lloyd Webber and previous Rodgers Award winners.

Lloyd Webber's other shows include Cats, Sunset Boulevard, Jesus Christ Superstar and the current West End hit, By Jeeves.

Tickets cost $35 to $500, with the topmost level available only to Realize the Dream Campaign donors, which includes a reception for Lloyd Webber at the Duquesne Club, dinner and dancing on stage.

Previous recipients of the award have included Stephen Sondheim, Mary Martin, Julie Andrews, Harold Prince and Cameron Mackintosh, all of whose work will be celebrated in the musical retrospective.-- By Robert Viagas
