News Anita Dobson to Make RSC Debut in Merry Wives of Windsor Anita Dobson, still best known for her iconic role as Angie in BBC TV's "EastEnders," which she played for three years from 1985 to 1988, is to make her RSC debut, joining the company to star as Mistress Quickly in The Merry Wives of Windsor, which begins performances at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon Oct. 25, for a run in repertoire through Jan. 12, 2013.

The production, directed by Phillip Breen, will also star Desmond Barrit as Falstaff.

Dobson was most recently seen onstage playing Joan Crawford in Bette and Joan on tour, that followed a run at London's Arts Theatre. Other stage credits include an Olivier Award-nominated performance in Bryony Lavery's Frozen at the National Theatre, and appearances in the West End musical Budgie and as Gertrude in Hamlet on tour and in the West End, opposite Ed Stoppard.
