Joseph Zettelmaier's play is "a poetic and touching look at four adult sisters who lose their father suddenly to cardiac arrest," according to the Network. "As they try to move on they realize that they must put their family back together in a completely different way. As the narrative flows seamlessly from present to past and back again, an intricate portrait of a family evolves. Complete with love, loss, humor and the irreplaceable moments that make up a life, The Stillness Between Breaths offers a look at family that is both precious and profound."
The play has been selected for the 2005 National Showcase of New Plays at Stanford University.
Performance Network artistic director David Wolber directs the staging, which began previews March 3, featuring Shannon Ferrante, Laurel Hufano, Alana Dauter, Mindy Woodhead, Michael Del Sordo and Charlie Sutherland.
The creative team includes scenic designer Neil Carpentier-Alting, lighting designer Rob Murphy, costume designer Kathy Kauffmann, prop designer Andaiye Spencer and sound designer Ken Faulk.
