Hathaway ("Les Misérables," Twelfth Night), who performed songs from Cabaret at Joe's Pub last year as a benefit for the Public, joins newly appointed board members Candia Fisher, Debby Landesman, Barbara Manocherian, Audrey Wilf, Charlotte Relyea and Anne Clarke Wolff. The Public Theater has a 40-member board of trustees.

"The Public is lucky to have these seven as new board members," said Public Theater artistic director Oskar Eustis in a statement. "Even as we recently honored the passing of our beloved Nora Ephron, we are uplifted by the addition of these extraordinary women."

Earlier this summer the Public honored late board member Ephron by planting a flowering cherry tree outside the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.
