Cast members of the Broadway revival of Annie Get Your Gun, including Bernadette Peters and Tom Wopat, will take part in Dec. 8 education program designed to stimulate interest in the arts among New York, New Jersey and Connecticut students. At 10 AM, Dec. 8, more than 1,500 school-age kids will descend upon the Marquis Theatre for an all day primer on the arts. The day will end with the students attending the Wednesday matinee of Annie Get Your Gun. Just prior to that, Peters, Wopat and other members of the musical's cast will lead the audience in a question and answer period. Meanwhile, mid-morning, stars Valerie Wright and Peter Marx, and conductor Marvin Laird, will lead the youngsters in a performance of the Annie anthem, "There's No Business Like Show Business."
Producers Barry and Fran Weissler will open the proceedings on 10 AM. Additional speakers at the event include fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and Tamecka Dixon, player for the WNBA's L.A. Sparks.
Annie Get Your Gun won a Tony Award at best revival of a musical. Peters won the best actress in a musical prize.
