News Aronson's Art Room Gets New England Premiere, June 12 The Art Room, a comedy by playwright Billy Aronson, will get its New England premiere June 12 at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater in Wellfleet, Cape Cod.

Brendan Hughes directs a cast headed by Laura Latreille, a Boston area actress who recently won an Elliot Norton Award for her work in Neil LaBute's The Shape of Things. Also in the cast are Kelly Mares, Laura Given Napoli, Stephen Russell and Charles Weinstein. Though he has had several plays produced in New York, including Light Years at Playwrights Horizons, Aronson is still probably best known as an early collaborator with Jonathan Larson on Rent. (He is still credited for selected lyrics in the program for the Broadway musical.) The Art Room is based on an obscure Feydeau farce. The story takes place in a mental ward and is chock full of mistaken identities and strange encounters.

Hughes has directed extensively around the Boston area and is currently in the Yale School of Drama's directing program.
