News Arthur Miller and Jeff Daniels Among Finalists for ATCA Steinberg New Play Award The American Theatre Critics Association (ATCA) has chosen six finalists for American Theatre Critics/ Steinberg New Play Award. The winner of the award will be announced at the Humana Festival of New American Plays, April 5.

Among the finalists for the acknowledgement — $15,000 cash for the top prize and two $5,000 finalists — are:

  • Across the Way by Jeff Daniels (Purple Rose Theatre - Chelsea, Michigan)
  • Anna in the Tropics by Nilo Cruz (New Theatre - Coral Gables, Florida)
  • The Dinosaur Within by John Walch (Austin's State Theater)
  • Good Boys by Jane Martin (Guthrie Lab - Minneapolis, Minnesota)
  • Recent Tragic Events by Craig Wright (Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company - Washington, D.C.)
  • Resurrection Blues by Arthur Miller (Minneapolis' Guthrie Theatre)
    The winner of this year's prize — granted by the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust — will be chosen by an 11-person committee of critics who reviewed the selected scripts.

    Past recipients of the award include Lanford Wilson, Marsha Norman, Michael Weller, Jane Martin, August Wilson, Arthur Miller, Lisa Loomer, Mac Wellman, Adrienne Kennedy, Jon Robin Baitz, Donald Margulies, Lee Blessing and Horton Foote.
