News August: Osage County, The Color Purple, Hair, Tommy Set for White Plains Performing Arts Center's Tenth Season The White Plains Performing Arts Center has announced its tenth anniversary season, which includes three mainstage Equity productions as well as a new "Spotlight" series of musicals.

The mainstage series at WPPAC focuses on award-winning Broadway titles and begins with Tracy Letts' Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning August: Osage County, a darkly comic drama directed by WPPAC artistic director Jeremy Quinn, Oct. 5-14.

Following August: Osage County will be the New York regional premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical The Color Purple, directed by Quinn with music direction by Stephen Ferri, Feb. 1-24, 2013; and Oscar Wilde's classic farce The Importance of Being Earnest April 5-14, 2013.

The new "Spotlight" series at WPPAC includes two semi-staged productions, featuring a full orchestra on stage. The Who's Tommy, directed and choreographed by Greg Baccarini, will play Dec. 7-8 and Dec. 27-30; and Hair, the tribal rock musical, will run May 3-12, 2013.

The White Plains Performing Arts Center, a not-for-profit organization based in downtown White Plains, is "dedicated to the presentation and production of a full spectrum of performing arts events for the City of White Plains and its surrounding communities."
