The American Theatre Wing has announced its latest "Working in the Theatre" seminars, the acclaimed series that presents major theatre personalities discussing their craft.

Created by Wing Chairman Isabelle Stevenson, the seminars are now in their 30th year. This season's series begins on Tuesday, April 23 with a "Playwright/Director" seminar. Those scheduled to participate include Jon Robin Baitz, John Guare, Peter Parnell, Dan Sullivan, Gene Saks and Mary Zimmerman. The April 24 "Production Seminar" features Thoroughly Modern Millie's Rob Ashford, Nina Lannan, Hal Luftig, Michael Mayer, Dick Scanlan and Jeanine Tesori, and the "Performance Seminar" on April 25 boasts actors Frank Langella, John Lithgow, Andrea Martin, Estelle Parsons, Mercedes Ruehl and Jeffrey Wright.

The "Working in the Theatre" seminars are held from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, 365 Fifth Avenue at 34th Street. Due to the popularity of the series, reservations must be made in advance by calling (212) 765-0606, faxing (212) 307-1910 or e-mailing [email protected].

For those unable to attend the discussions, the series is broadcast six times a week on CUNY-TV (Time Warner channel 75 and RCN channel 106); the Stevenson-Roy A. Somlyo presentations are also broadcast in Los Angeles on Channel 36.

Attendance to the seminars is free to theatre students, members of theatrical unions and guilds and casts of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. —By Andrew Gans
