Balderrama, Douglas, Herrera and Segura to Lead "Dare To Go Beyond" Summer Camp

News   Balderrama, Douglas, Herrera and Segura to Lead "Dare To Go Beyond" Summer Camp Cast members from In the Heights, The Little Mermaid and Chicago will teach as part of the "Dare To Go Beyond" Children's Performing Arts Camp beginning July 29.

Running through July 31 at the Pearl Studios in Manhattan, the non-profit organization R.Evolución Latina presents the free camp for New York City school children ages 7-17.

In the Heights cast member Michael Balderrama serves as executive producer of R.Evolución Latina, which seeks to "inspire growth within the Latino community." The camp is now in its second year.

"The camp syllabus is specifically created for children who don’t have access to the arts, and is geared to providing them with the tools to unlock their hidden potential and talents," Balderrama said in a statement. "The mission of the camp is also to instill the R.Evolución Latina motto of 'Dare to Go Beyond' and to encourage the youth to take that motto back to their communities."

Show folk lending their time include Balderrama, as well as Ryan Daniel Beck (MOMIX Dance Company), Michelle Brugal (Aida, The Lion King), Tony Chiroldes (In the Heights), Rogelio Douglas (The Little Mermaid), Gabriela Garcia (Chicago), Chris Harbur (Shafrika the White Girl), John Herrera (In the Heights), Stephanie Klemons (In the Heights, Bombay Dreams), Dan Micciche (Chicago), Jose Ortiz (BombaYO), Jon Rua (In the Heights), Luis Salgado (In the Heights, "Across the Universe"), Enrique Segura (The Lion King), as well as the Public Theater's Ian Hersey and In the Heights rehearsal pianist Kat Sherrell.
