News Barbara Cook to Salute Composers Arlen, Harper and Schwartz in Café Carlyle Tribute Run The legendary Barbara Cook will return to the Café Carlyle for a special three-week engagement beginning April 12.

Cook has titled her new program Tribute and will feature the works of composers Harold Arlen, Arthur Schwartz and Wally Harper. The latter was Cook's longtime musical director, who passed away in October. Cabaretgoers can expect to hear Cook wrap her acclaimed soprano around Arlen's "Last Night When We Were Young," and "Get Happy"; Harper's "The World Must Be Bigger Than an Avenue" and "Another Mister Right Left"; and Schwartz's "I'll Buy You a Star" and "Make the Man Love Me." Through April 30, Cook will be accompanied at the Carlyle by musical director Michael Kosarin on piano and Peter Donovan on bass. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8:45 PM with late shows Saturday nights at 10:45 PM.

Barbara Cook has starred on Broadway in Flahooley, Candide, The Gay Life, The Music Man and She Loves Me. She received a Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony Award for her performance in The Music Man, and her one-woman show, Mostly Sondheim, was nominated for a Tony in the Best Special Theatrical Event category. Cook was most recently on the New York stage in Barbara Cook's Broadway. Both Mostly Sondheim and Barbara Cook's Broadway were recorded for DRG.
