Broadway's shapeliest bods will shed their sequins, fur, and rags once again on May 23, when Broadway Bares IX moves to Manhattan's spacious Roseland Ballroom. Directed by Jerry Mitchell, there will be two presentations, at 9:30 and midnight. The annual event, in which scantily clad chorus members of current Broadway and Off-Broadway shows dance and perform bawdy, burlesque- style comedy, raised a record $154,000 last year for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Broadway Bares VIII featured 130 dancers from 15 different shows, including Cabaret, Cats, Chicago, Miss Saigon, Ragtime, and The Lion King. It was subtitled "Peep Show," and gave a nod to the world of Mother Goose.Sandra Bernhard hosted.
