News Betsy Morgan, Stacia Fernandez, Johnny Newcomb, Casey Tuma Set for Reading of A Hair Out Of Place: The Musical An industry reading of A Hair Out Of Place: The Musical will be presented in Manhattan March 5 at 2 PM.

A Hair Out Of Place features book, music and lyrics by Joe Major.

Richard Roland will direct the reading with musical direction by Rick Bertone. The cast will include Betsy Morgan, Stacia Fernandez, Joe Aaron Reid, Devon Buchanan, Gina Duci, Johnny Newcomb and Sam Prince with Casey Tuma as the show's central character, Bernice.

Loosely based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short story "Bernice Bobs Her Hair," this musical adaptation first premiered under the title of Bernice Bobs Her Mullet in 2007 at the Julia Miles Theater as part of the New York Musical Theater Festival.

The musical is described as "the rag-to-bitches story of a young high school redneck who sets out to make something of her life in the bustling metropolis of Little Rock, Arkansas. As she encounters a social scene treacherous enough to rival Fitzgerald’s original version, she is soon swept up in the glamor and politics of popularity as she learns the hard way that you shouldn’t let it go to your head."

Industry folk interested in attending the reading should contact Jeremey Chase (associate producer) at [email protected].
