Yesterday's major fire at 15 W. 45th St. between Fifth and Sixth Avenues has forced the extended closure of that block on W. 45th due to "unsafe conditions." The block will remain closed until further notice. Although the final determination has not been made by the NYC Department of Buildings, it is possible that the structure will be demolished, according to a Fire Department spokesman.
Disruptions in vehicular and pedestrian traffic patterns are expected in the Theatre District as a result.
