Play Ball! The ubiquitous Chicago comedy, Bleacher Bums, opens California's Marin Theatre Company's 23rd season Sept. 17. Bums runs through Oct. 18. Actor Joe Mantegna (Bway's Glengarry Glen Ross, Speed the Plow and Working, as well as 25 feature films) conceived Bleacher Bums with the co-authorship of 11 others (including "NYPD Blue"'s Dennis Franz) at Chicago's Organic Theatre Company. A baseball comedy in nine innings, Bums dissects a Chicago archetype -- Cubs fans who watch the game from the Wrigley Field bleachers.
Marin Theatre Company's artistic director Lee Sankowich (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest) directs the bums, including Harry Waters Jr., Liam Vincent, Ron Kaell, David Kudler, Michele McHall, Soren Oliver, Joe Bellan, and Miriam Babin.
Tickets are $38-$10 and can be ordered by calling (415) 388-5208. The Marin Theatre Company is located at 397 Miller Avenue, Mill Valley, CA.
