News Blues Clues: I Just Stopped By to See the Man Opens Geffen Season in L.A., Sept. 17 The Geffen Playhouse opens its 2003-2004 season with the west coast premiere of Stephen Jeffreys' I Just Stopped By to See the Man, Sept. 17. Geffen artistic director Randall Arney directs.

I Just Stopped By to See the Man began previews at the Los Angeles, California stage Sept. 9 and continues through Oct. 19.

JoNell Kennedy, Donovan Leitch, and Clarence Williams III star in play set in the Mississippi Delta of the 1970s. In the work is about a legendary blues man thought to be dead, his daughter and a British rocker's search for the truth.

Jeffreys' I Just Stopped By... had its world premiere at the Royal Court Theatre in 2001. The play then received its American premiere at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre last year.

The Geffen 2003-2004 season continues as follows (subject to change):

  • Sandra Tsing Loh's Sugar Plum Fairy - Nov. 11-Dec. 21
  • Bryan Davidson's War Music - Jan. 13-Feb. 22, 2004
  • Carl Sternheim's The Underpants (Adapted by Steve Martin) - March 9-April 18, 2004
