The musical will play London’s Noël Coward Theatre following a world premiere at the Old Vic.

Girl From the North Country, featuring music and lyrics by Bob Dylan, will transfer to the West End following a world-premiere engagement at London’s Old Vic. Performances will begin December 29 at the Noël Coward Theatre, where it will open officially January 11, 2018, and run through March 31.

The musical, written and directed by Conor McPherson, is set in Dylan’s hometown of Duluth, Minnesota, in 1934. It follows a small, struggling group that convenes in a local guesthouse when a bible-selling preacher and a boxer arrive in the middle of the night, disrupting the entire community.

Casting for the West End production will be announced at a later date. The Old Vic staging, which runs through October 7, features Sheila Atim, Ron Cook, Bronagh Gallagher, Shirley Henderson, Ciarán Hinds, Claudia Jolly, Arinzé Kene, Debbie Kurup, Kirsty Malpass, Jim Norton, Tom Peters, Karl Queensborough, Sam Reid, Michael Shaeffer, Jack Shalloo, and Stanley Townsend.

The cast recording was released September 29; a double vinyl edition will be available beginning December 15.

Girl From the North Country features sets and costumes by Rae Smith, lighting design by Mark Henderson, and sound design by Simon Baker. Lucy Hind and Simon Hale serve as movement director and musical supervisor, respectively.
