Booking has now opened for the Bollywood musical Bombay Dreams at the Apollo Victoria, where until recently Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express ran for many years.
Lloyd Webber's connection with the theatre is being maintained, however, as he is producing Bombay Dreams, though that is his only role with the show, which is the work of composer A. R. Rahman and writer Meera Sayal. The rest of the creative team include dancer Farah Khan, Don Black (lyrics) and Anthony van Laast (choreography). Steven Pimlott is to direct, and Mark Thompson will be responsible for the design.
The (female) lead role in the spectacular new musical about the love affair between the daughter of a Bollywood film director and a boy from the wrong side of the tracks, has been cast. Preeya Kalidas, a 21 year-old actress who trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, won the role.
