News Box Office Blues: Broadway Treasurer Tells Tales in Do You Have Anything Closer?, July 15-Aug. 1 Audiences will learn what life is like on the other side of the box office window when Do You Have Anything Closer?, a new autobiographical play by veteran ticket seller Lawrence Paone, debuts at the Where Eagles Dare Theatre in Midtown Manhattan, July 15.

The work is co-written by Paone and Matthew Aibel, who also directs.

Paone has worked as a Broadway box office treasurer since 1986, collecting paychecks from all three major theatre-owning outfits—The Shuberts, Nederlanders and Jujamcyns—as well as Lincoln Center Theater and Circle in the Square.

In Do You Have Anything Closer?, he tells of tangles with hostile ticket buyers, clueless theatregoers, dotty matinee ladies, quirky celebrities and other Times Square types.

Aibel is also an actor and writer. He has performed on Broadway in Candide and on the road in Blood Brothers. He has been a company manager on shows such as Life x 3 and The Retreat From Moscow.

The production is part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival, and will run July 15, 24, 26, 31 and Aug. 1. Tickets are $15. Call 212-868-4444.
