News   Broadway Gets Set to Swing! The Bandstand Will Transfer with Laura Osnes and Corey Cott
Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes (Cinderella) and Corey Cott (Newsies, Gigi) will recreate their starring roles in The Bandstand, the new musical directed and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton), when the show moves to Broadway in the 2016-17 season. Bandstand is about to conclude a successful run at Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey.

Specific dates, theatre and further casting are yet to be announced.

Set in 1945, the final year of World War II, the self-described "big-band musical" chronicles the story of a mismatched band of WWII veterans who join together to compete in a radio contest with dreams of stardom. The show has music by Cirque du Soleil’s Richard Oberacker and book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Oberacker.

The Bandstand will be produced on Broadway by Tom Smedes, Gabrielle Palitz, Terry Schnuck and Tom Kirdahy. The Broadway version will bring along the entire Paper Mill design team: scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Nevin Steinberg and casting by Tara Rubin Casting.
