The Broadway Kids are back for their second Off-Broadway season. Their show, The Broadway Kids Sing Broadway, opens with three different casts on three different nights, Dec. 4, 5 and 6. The Broadway Kids resumed performances Oct. 31 at the Douglas Fairbanks Theatre (432 West 42 Street). Last year, The Kids enjoyed a highly successful, 33 week run.
Six young Broadway veterans -- ranging in age from 7 to 15 -- perform a fully choreographed, one-hour musical revue of numbers from such musicals as Les Miserables, Annie, The King & I, Bye Bye Birdie, and The Lion King. Twenty youngsters make up the rotating multi-racial, multi-ethnic company, with six at each performance.
Broadway Kids is directed by Christopher Scott with a book by Bruce J. Robinson, choreography by Monica Johnson and musical direction by Michael Roberts.
Broadway Kids began four years ago, conceived by Julius Shulman (a N.Y. doctor) whose son was appearing in Les Miz. Since then, The Kids have recorded four albums and have appeared on numerous television shows, as well as live at the Goodwill Games, Gracie Mansion, and The White House.
The cast includes : Jonathan Bleicher, Alex Bowen, Andrea Bowen, Jillian Bowen, Barry Cavanaugh, Tavia Jefferson, James Johnson, Alexandra Kiesman, Cassidy Ladden, Karina LaGravinese, Elizabeth Lundberg, Greg Raposo, Evan Silverberg, Christopher Trousdale, JJ Tucci, Brandon Uranowitz, and Jenna Ushkowitz.
