Broadway heads to The Windy City on July 2 with a concert entitled "Broadway Rocks Chicago — Chicago Loves New York." Part of the annual "Taste of Chicago" event, the 6:30 PM concert will feature songs from great "rock-n-roll musicals" of past and present. Attendees can expect to hear tunes from Mamma Mia!, Aida, Hair, Rent, Grease, Smokey Joe's Café, The Rocky Horror Show, The Full Monty, The Wild Party, Dreamgirls, Jesus Christ Superstar, Fosse, Footloose, The Who's Tommy and Saturday Night Fever. There will also be a special performance by cast members of the upcoming Billy Joel musical, Movin 'Out, which makes its pre-Broadway debut in Chicago this summer.

Produced by the League of American Theatres and Producers and the City of Chicago, "Broadway Rocks Chicago — Chicago Loves New York" will begin with a special presentation to the Windy City in recognition of its generous support of Broadway and the City of New York following the events of Sept. 11. In a statement, League President Jed Bernstein said, "We are looking forward to rocking the Windy City with great songs from the shows that appeal to the youthful side in all of us . . . This concert is going to be upbeat and fun! We hope everyone will come out and enjoy the summer fun."

"Broadway Rocks Chicago — Chicago Loves New York" will be presented in the Petrillo Band Shell in Chicago's Grant Park.
