News Brownstone Original Cast Recording Due in Late June The long-awaited recording of Brownstone, the 1986 Off-Broadway musical, will be released by Original Cast Records at the end of June.

The Look of Love's Liz Callaway, who starred in the show's Off-Broadway production, heads a cast that includes Brian d'Arcy James, recently of Sweet Smell of Success; The Secret Garden's Rebecca Luker; Tony Award winner Debbie (Jerome Robbins' Broadway) Gravitte; and Kevin Reed. The new recording will also feature the orchestrations of Harold Wheeler, who is Tony-nominated this season for his work on the Broadway hit Hairspray. The band for the Brownstone recording also features musicians who played during the show’s original run.

Brownstone, which was created by Andrew Cadiff, Josh Rubins and Peter Larson, opened at Off-Broadway's Union Square Theatre on Oct. 8, 1986, where it played 69 performances before closing Dec. 6, 1986. Directed by Cadiff with musical staging by Don Bondi, the original cast featured Callaway, Kimberly Farr, Ben Harney, Ernestine Jackson and Rex Smith.
