Ah, is there anything more fun than a blood pressure test -- especially when it's free?

Well, those in the entertainment community can be tested for blood pressure, stress and health risk at a free Mini Health Fair, noon to 5 PM Nov. 21 in New York. The event is sponsored by Better Wellness And You (BWAY), a consortium of representatives from the theatre community. The fairs are billed as "the largest combined presentation of the numerous theatrical and entertainment unions, associations and services to join forces for such an event."

The outrageous costs of health care, especially to performers who don't qualify for benefit packages, make the Health Care Fair an important service. Other offerings at the 57th St. event include screenings for skin and oral cancer, smokelyzer, breast cancer detection, cholesterol, and nutritional information and pamphlets.

Among the many theatre organizations supporting the event are Actors' Equity, The Actors' Fund, IATSE, AFTRA, Theatre Development Fund, and Welfare Fund of Legitimate Theatre Employees B-183 (Ushers and Doormen).

Once the event ends, the Wellness Program Committee, assisted by The Actors' fund, will continue to present free programs, lectures and testings throughout the year. If you plan to attend the BWAY Fair, please use the 10th Ave. entrance to enter the building at 475 West 57 St. The Fair is in the Actors' Fund space on the second floor.
