MAC Award winner Tom Andersen will kick off the ''2001 Broadway Cabaret Series'' at the historic Crest Theatre in Delray Beach, FL, 8 PM Jan. 8.

The pop singer-songwriter will perform highlights from his CDs ''Far Away Places'' and ''The Journey,'' including his signature tune, ''Storybook,'' from The Scarlet Pimpernel. In addition to songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim, he will premiere a new medley that salutes 1960s Broadway musicals.

Andersen has appeared Off-Broadway in the revue, Cabariety, and has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Russian Tea Room, Tavern on the Green, the Algonquin and the Kennedy Center. He has been honored by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs (MAC) five times for his singing, songwriting and recordings. ''Yard Sale,'' his award winning song about a young man with AIDS, has been sung in cabarets across America and Australia, and his tunes have been performed by David Campbell, Baby Jane Dexter and Sean McDermott.

Following him in the ''Broadway Cabaret'' series in Delray Beach will be Sally Mayes (She Loves Me) Feb. 19; Marcia Lewis (Chicago) March 12; and Donna McKechnie (A Chorus Line) April 2. The Crest Theatre is a 320-seat theatre located in the Old School Cultural Arts Center. The venue is on the National Register of Historic Places. Delray Beach itself is halfway between Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Tickets are $28. For the box office, call (561) 243 7922.
