Canada's largest performing arts venue, the O'Keefe Centre in Toronto, is getting a new name: The Hummingbird Centre for the Performing Arts. The rechristening honors Hummingbird Communications, which donated $5 million (Canadian) to allow the theatre to improve access for the disabled, upgrade acoustics, renovate the lobbies and public areas, and do other maintenance and repair work.
Fred Sorkin, president and CEO of Hummingbird, said "This tremendous and rare occasion gives our organization the opportunity to give back to the people of Toronto... The kindness and support we have experienced throughout our history."
