Directed by TheatreWorks founding artistic director Robert Kelley, the musical concludes TheatreWorks' 38th season. Performances will continue through April 27 with an opening night scheduled for April 5. Bay Area actress C. Kelly Wright stars as Caroline, the role created on Broadway by Tony winner Tonya Pinkins. The company also features Julian Hornik as Noah, James Monroe Iglehart as the Dryer and the Bus, Anise Ritchie as the Moon, Eileen Tepper as Rose, Valisia Lekae as Emmie, Allison Blackwell as Dotty, Ryan Drummond as Stuart, Randy Nazarian as Mr. Stopnick, Jesse Caldwell as Grandpa Gellman and Roberta Morris as Grandma Gellman. Caroline, or Change features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner and music by Jeanine Tesori. The musical, according to press notes, concerns "Caroline, [who] is the African-American maid of a Southern Jewish couple, and a confidant to their young son, Noah. When Caroline is enlisted in a plan to teach Noah a lesson about leaving change in his pockets, the tide of social change begins to affect her life first-hand."
