News Caroline, or Change to Perform on "Weekend Day" Cast members from the Tony-nominated musical Caroline, or Change will perform on NBC's "Weekend Today" June 12.

A spokesperson for the new musical confirmed that members from the cast of the Tony Kushner-Jeanine Tesori musical will be part of the June 12 broadcast of the NBC news program. NBC's "Weekend Today" airs from 7-9 AM ET; check local listings. (Caroline replaces Wicked, which had been scheduled for the June 12 broadcast.) The telecast will feature 2004 Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose performing "Roosevelt Petrucius" with co-stars Harrison Chad, Marcus Carl Franklin and Leon G. Thomas III. An additional number, "I Hate the Bus," will run in about 70% of the television markets, excluding New York City.

   Caroline, or Change, which began life at Off-Broadway's Public Theater, reopened late in the season at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Starring Tonya Pinkins as a black maid for a Jewish family in 1960's Louisiana, the musical features book and lyrics by Tony Kushner and music by Jeanine Tesori. George C. Wolfe directed the musical, which received six Tony nominations, including Best Musical. The Eugene O'Neill Theatre is located at 230 West 49th Street.
