The 63rd annual ceremony, where the winners will be announced, will take place June 3 at Town Hall; Michael Urie returns to host.

Leading the pack this year were three Broadway musicals—the revival of Carousel with 12 nominations, SpongeBob SquarePants with 11, and Mean Girls with 10.

As the Drama Desks place Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway productions and artists in the same categories, some were dominated by Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway representation, including Outstanding Play, Outstanding Music, Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play—allowing for little speculation for the May 1 Tony Award nominations announcement.
