The Hollywood film star, best-selling novelist, acclaimed screenwriter and Jenny Craig spokesperson premiered in her one-woman play starting in 2006, spun off a bestselling book version, toured the show, brought it to Broadway and got it filmed in a post-Broadway engagement. The HBO version (coming to DVD soon) was recently nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special.

Tickets for the Chicago engagement go on sale Aug. 10.

Fisher's one-woman play about her dark and funny life and times in showbiz (she's the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, for starters) became a feature-length HBO film (documenting the play and offering additional footage), filmed before a live audience. It premiered on HBO Dec. 12, 2010. (Her crooner father died between the filming and the HBO airing.) Fisher is internationally known for playing Princess Leia in the first "Star Wars" trilogy.
