Written by Jez Butterworth, the author of Mojo, The Night Heron will star Chris Bauer, Clark Gregg, Mary McCann and Jordan Lage. The company will also include Jim Frangione, Joe Stipek and Damian Young. Artistic Director Neil Pepe will helm the production, which plays Sept. 17-Nov. 9 with an official opening scheduled for Oct. 7 at 7 PM.
According to a press release The Night Heron concerns "two unemployed gardeners, Griffin (Gregg) and Wattmore (Bauer), [who] struggle to survive on pennies and poached rabbits. Forced to take in a lodger, the intense and mysterious Bolla Fogg (McCann), their private world is revealed and turned upside down."
Chris Bauer starred in Butterworth's Mojo and can currently be seen in the TV series "The Wire" and "Third Watch." Clark Gregg was also part of the Mojo company as well as the casts of Broadway's A Few Good Men and the films "State and Main" and "Lovely and Amazing." Mary McCann's credits include the Atlantic's This Thing of Darkness, Broadway's The Old Neighborhood and the upcoming CBS series "Surviving Love." Jordan Lage's Broadway credits number Gore Vidal's The Best Man, The Old Neighborhood, Our Town and A Few Good Men.
The creative team for The Night Heron comprises Walt Spangler (scenic design), Laura Bauer (costume design), Tyler Micoleau (lighting design) and Scott Myers (sound design). The production will play Tuesday Saturday evenings at 8 PM with matinees on Saturdays at 2 PM and Sundays at 3 PM.
