Kingsley Lewis, Kecia Lewis, Vanita Harbour, Tonya L. Dixon, Ron Kellum and Billy Porter will star in the Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities' production of Dreamgirls, which runs June 7-25 at the Redondo Beach, CA, Performing Arts Center. Originally created, directed and choreographed in 1981 by Michael Bennett, Dreamgirls has book & lyrics by Tom Eyen and music by Henry Krieger.
The musical, winner of six Tony Awards and two Grammy awards, fictionalizes the life and times of the Supremes, a hit singing group of the Motown 60s.
Robert Clater directs for CLOSBC and Jeff Rizzo is the musical director. The producer and executive producer are, respectively, Steve Ullman and James Blackman.
