News Casting Announced for Reading of New Musical Bathory A by-invitation-only staged reading of the new musical Bathory — based on the life of the 16th-century Countess Elizabeth Bathory — will be presented May 23 at the 45th Street Theatre in Manhattan.

The cast will feature Caitlin Kinnunen (Spring Awakening), Frederic Heringes (The Phantom of the Opera), Alyssa Malgeri (Hairspray national tour), Marita Stryker (Sweeney Todd national tour) and Sami Skow (Disney's High School Musical 2) with Lacretta Nicole and Matt Leisy.

The company will also include Ray Bendana, Sara Jayne Blackmore, Mick Bleyer, Sarah Cooney, Christopher James Culberson, Nicole DeCario, Alison Drew, Lisa Helmi Johanson, Matt Leisy, Kristin Purcell, Roslyn Seale, Anna Marie Sell, Tyler Rivera Stein, Anne Fraser Thomas, Jonathan R. Tuzo and Hernando Umana.

Stacey Weingarten will direct with musical direction by Mark Hartman.

Bathory was penned by David Levinson (score) and Daniel Levinson (book). The musical, according to press notes, is described as such: "When Anjalka (Alyssa Malgeri) disappears within the castle of the Countess Bathory (Kristin Purcell) along with a number of young girls, Anjalka's sister Katherina (Caitlin Kinnunen) is sent by the Count Thurzo (Frederic Heringes) to investigate. But Katherina soon discovers that nothing is as it seems inside the castle walls."
