To say that it has been a whirlwind week would be an understatement. It's been a whirlwind nine months! I can't believe that Memphis has been open for 7 months. Tonight we celebrate our 250th show! If one includes previews in the tally, it's actually 279. Wow. That's a lot of smooches shared between Montego and I. Tallying the kisses: We share 4 passionate kisses in the show...so....hold on, let me get my calculator (low SAT score on the math portion)...it comes out to a whopping 1,116 kisses. I'm a lucky man. I actually get paid to make out with the very lovely and talented Montego Glover:)
On our day off yesterday, the Diamond Info Center threw a dinner party honoring Montego and I and our Tony nominations. It was such a thrill. Rarely - and by rarely I mean never - has one thrown a dinner party for moi, except for birthdays. I get weepy pretty easily these days so you can only imagine my blubbering toast! The dinner was held at the Double Crown restaurant in the bowery. Very chic place. Wonderful food and an amazing time was had by all...
So, off to the gym to start warming up for tonight's show. And after tonight, we start our run at 500 shows! And after that 1000. It's the people in the seats who drive us every night. Their sheer exuberance and excitement for the show is what keeps us going. It is so fun to do a show that people literally lean forward in the seats with anticipation, wondering what's gonna happen next...it's like throwing a surprise party for 1400 people a night:)
