James Earl Jones
James Earl Jones celebrates his birthday January 17. Jones won Tony Awards for The Great White Hope and Fences, and received additional nominations for On Golden Pond and The Best Man. Last year, the legendary actor was also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Tony Award.
Jones last appeared on Broadway with Cicely Tyson in a revival of D.L. Coburn’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, The Gin Game.

For his work onscreen, Jones is the recipient of an honorary Academy Award and an Oscar nominee for the film adaptation of The Great White Hope. His additional memorable screen roles include Darth Vader in Star Wars and Mufasa in The Lion King—a performance he will reprise in Disney’s 2019 live-action adaptation.
