Chaffin Performs and Signs New CD at Barnes and Noble Nov. 12

News   Chaffin Performs and Signs New CD at Barnes and Noble Nov. 12 Actor, singer and PS Classics co-founder Philip Chaffin makes an in-store appearance at the Lincoln Triangle Barnes and Noble Nov. 12 to celebrate his latest album, "When the Wind Blows South."

At 6 PM Chaffin will perform selections from the album, which features songs by Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen and Jerry Herman. A signing of the recording will follow.

For his third solo album, Chaffin "revisits his Southern roots and brings them to bear on the music he loves best. It's a meeting of two worlds — the sounds of the Old South gently filtered through the music of Broadway — and the result is a deeply personal journey." The songwriters include Harold Arlen, Burton Lane, Frank Loesser, Arthur Schwartz, Johnny Mercer and Jerry Herman.

The track listing for "When the Wind Blows South" follows:

"Loving You"
"Leaving on a Jet Plane"
"Love Walked In"
"I Never Has Seen Snow"
"Now That I Need You (Where Are You?)"
"The One I Love"
"Pardon My Southern Accent"
"Old Devil Moon"
"Is It Too Late?"
"I Remember You/Too Late Now"
"I Got Out of Bed on the Right Side"
"When the Wind Blows South"
"Here You Come Again"
"In a Sentimental Mood"

Recorded on Aug. 11, "When the Wind Blows South" is conducted by Sam Davis and features arrangements by Larry Hochman, Michael Starobin, John McDaniel, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Dan Lipton, Glen Daum and Fred Lassen. The album is produced by Tommy Krasker. Actor-singer Chaffin has appeared in New York City in both concerts (including several of the Encores! productions at City Center, as well as Lyrics and Lyricists at the 92nd Street Y and the Songwriter Series at Joe's Pub) and in theatrical evenings, including the New York premiere of Alan Menken and Tim Rice's King David.
