News Change of Venue for Two L.A.'s International City Theatre and A Noise Within International City Theatre and A Noise Within, two of Los Angeles' leading stage companies, are on the move. International City Theatre and A Noise Within, two of Los Angeles' leading stage companies, are on the move. A Noise Within will transfer from its 144-seat Glendale space to the Luckman Fine Arts Complex at Cal State Los Angeles, where it will become the resident company, beginning in September.

At first, the classical repertory group plans to use only 252 seats -- the first ten rows -- of the 1,150 seat Luckman, with the balcony and back rows to be roped off.

Eventually, however, the company hopes to be able to utilize the entire 642-seat orchestra section.

A previous plan to expand within the company's Glendale facility has been stymied by the group's inability to obtain a long-term lease.

International City Theatre in Long Beach will become an exclusively midsized theatre next season, leaving its original 99- seat home at Long Beach City College and presenting an expanded season at the Center Theatre in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, where it was recently named the official resident company. The company has presented programming at Center Theatre since 1997, using a 190-seat configuration, but hopes to enlarge the seating capacity to 349 next season.

A black tie-optional event to benefit ICT's expansion takes place Sun. June 13 from 5-10 PM at an exclusive 10,000 square foot private home, the Salyer Estate in Virginia Country Club. The event begins with a tour of the estate, followed by wine-tasting, dinner, live music, entertainment and dancing. Tickets are $70. Call (562) 938- 4051 for information.
