The play, written by Nassim Soleimanpour, is a co-production with the Museum of Contemporary Art and features a different actor in each performance. White Rabbit, Red Rabbit continues through Nov. 9. 

Along with Shannon, White Rabbit, Red Rabbit features three other Chicago-based actors: Usman Ally (Disgraced, The Jungle Book), Fawzia Mirza (The Happiest Song Plays Last, Scorched) and Yasen Peyankov (Morning Star, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune). 

Each actor receives the script just prior to going on stage, and audience members do not know who is performing until the play begins. 

"Imagine being 29 and forbidden to leave your country," press notes state. "In White Rabbit, Red Rabbit, Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour dissects the experience of a whole generation in a wild, utterly original piece. Forbidden to travel, he turned his isolation to his own advantage with a play that requires no director, no set and a different actor for every performance."

White Rabbit, Red Rabbit was voted Best New Performance at the Dublin Fringe Festival and was recipient of the Arches Brick Award at the Edinburgh Festival.

Shannon recently completed a run of Simpatico at A Red Orchard Theatre, which he helped to found. He has also worked with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Northlight Theatre Company. Shannon made his Broadway debut in Grace in 2012, and the Academy Award nominee's film work includes "Bug," "Revolutionary Road," "The Iceman" and "Man of Steel." He has also appeared in "Boardwalk Empire."
