CHICAGO -- The Oobleck Theater has garnered a reputation for its probing and iconclastic brand of thinking theater. Premiering March 5, Danny Thompson's bloody "and historically inaccurate" biography Necessity follows Thomas Alva Edison "from chain gang to electric chair." It also features "violent acts perpetrated against members of Alexander Graham Bell's family" and actors impersonating Helen Keller, Albert Schweitzer, and Nikola Tesla.

The author himself plays the narrator, who is billed as "a creamy and delicious blend of Forrest Gump, the `Sling Blade' guy and other `magical idiots' of recent pop culture."
