Sopranos Teri Bibb, Karen Culliver and Lisa Vroman have all broken the Phantom's heart as the ingenue-turned-diva Christine Daae in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. During the holidays, however, the three Broadway vets aim to warm hearts as The Leading Ladies, repeating their 2001 show and holiday tune concert success. On Dec. 7, they will play California State University, Fullerton's Plummer Auditorium.

Vroman opened and closed the long-running San Francisco production of The Phantom of the Opera, playing Christine from Dec. 12, 1993 to February, 1999 and winning the Bay Area Theatre Critics Award for Best Actress. She recently performed the role at Broadway's Majestic Theatre and was the first actress to play Cosette and Fantine in Les Miserables. Apart from Broadway, Bibb also toured as Christine with the second national tour, winning a Carbonell Award and a Helen Hayes nomination. Culliver originated the role with the first national touring company.

In time for the holidays, the Fullerton concert will be a mix of Broadway and seasonal tunes. The first half opens with the kind of numbers one would expect from a gaggle of Christines — "Memory," "Come to My Garden" and a medley from The Phantom of the Opera. The second features Christmas and Hanukkah songs, from "O Holy Night" and "The Festival of Lights" to "Santa Baby" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

The ladies are also working on a wider release for their debut CD, "The Leading Ladies," currently available at their concert engagements. The CD, featuring Broadway songs and standards, will soon be available through Amazon.com and the ladies' website, http://www.theleadingladies.com.

In summer 2003, the Leading Ladies plan to appear May 16 at the Palm Springs Desert Museum's Annenberg Theatre and on Crystal Cruises' Alaskan trips during the month of July. Tickets to the Fullerton concert are $20-$25. For reservations, call (714) 278-3371.
