The Alliance is billing the staging as a new American adaptation of the musical. Re-branded as Zorro: A New Musical, the production has played several international engagements since its premiere.

Zorro has a book by Stephen Clark and Helen Edmundson, lyrics by Clark, and a score by The Gipsy Kings and John Cameron. It will run April 3-May 5, 2013, in Atlanta, GA. An official opening has been set for April 10, 2013.

"From the old American west comes the legend of Zorro, a fighter of corruption and lover of beautiful women," according to the Alliance. "When Don Diego comes home from Spain, he finds his father dead and his brother running Los Angeles--badly. Don Diego's foppish exterior hides the soul of a desert fox – Zorro!"

Fred Lassen will musical direct.

Zorro received its world premiere in Woking, United Kingdom, March 13, 2008, prior to a West End opening at the Garrick Theatre on July 15 of the same year. In February 2009, the musical earned five Laurence Olivier Award nominations, with Lesli Margherita winning the award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical. The London production closed March 14, 2009. The musical received its American premiere in early 2012 at the Hale Centre Theatre in Salt Lake City.
