News Closer Than Ever Extends Off-Broadway Run a Second Time The York Theatre Company's critically acclaimed revival of Closer Than Ever, the revue that features the songs of lyricist Richard Maltby, Jr. and composer David Shire, has extended its run for a second time.

The intimate, four-person show will now continue through Sept. 30 at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's, producers announced Aug. 9.

With direction by Maltby, associate direction and choreography by Kurt Stamm and music direction by Andrew Gerle, Closer Than Ever currently features Jacquelyn Piro Donovan, Julia Murney, George Dvorsky and Sal Viviano.

The production is described as an "intimate musical about love, friendship, security, happiness – and holding onto those essentials in a world that pulls us in a hundred directions at once."

The creative team includes Kurt Stamm (choreography), James Morgan (sets), Nicole Wee (costumes), Kirk Bookman (lights) and Stephanie Wagner (props). The production stage manager is Bernita Robinson.

Show times are Monday and Tuesday at 7 PM, Wednesday-Friday 8 PM and Saturday at 2:30 PM and 8 PM.

As previously reported, a cast recording will be released by Jay Records on a date to be announced. The original Off-Broadway cast recording is available from RCA Victor.
